Mexican? Yes please!

For those of you that don't know, I work in a University in London. I've been here for over a month now and it's all going pretty well. Last week was induction week and it was crazy, I was so busy I barely had a minute of peace. That's not a bad thing, as the time goes a lot quicker when I am busy. It's been a pretty crazy week for Seth and I in general. Seth had an exam this week, so last week, he spent a lot of time studying and revising for it, which is great, but we didn't really see a lot of each other. As I was on the train home on Friday, I texted him and mentioned that we should go out for dinner as I couldn't be bothered to cook (not that my cooking is amazing anyway, but that's not the point!). I also said that perhaps we couldn't afford to at the moment having recently moved, etc. We're both pretty careful with money, which is probably because Seth was a student for our first two years of married life and we had to watch where every penny went. I don't think I've quite got used to the fact that he works now so when I got his reply agreeing that we should eat out, I was pretty happy. An evening with my husband and food that I don't have to cook, life doesn't get much better!

Our village has a lot of really nice restaurants. We want to eat at them all at some point but we thought we would try Desperado's this time.

I am a huge fan of Mexican food, and it didn't disappoint! Seth laughed at me when I didn't eat the side salad that came with the starter and we both laughed when we wondered if they just recycled it and used it as the side salad for my main course.

Isn't he handsome?!
The side salad that just kept on giving.

Seth had fun putting together his fajitas. I always think that when going out for dinner, it's just too much effort to order something from the menu where you have to put it together yourself so I opted for the easier option, chicken chimichangas. They were delicious!

The difficulty was in deciding whether to have dessert or whether to have a non-alcoholic cocktail, so we had a dessert each and shared a virgin colada. When I say "shared", we all know that I ended up having most of it.

And to top off our fun date night, when we got home, Strictly Come Dancing was on. Seth + dinner out + Strictly Come Dancing = a very happy Kirsty!

  1. I really fancy Mexican food now. But my attempt to make it for myself was a total crash and burn. Hmm, just as well there is a Mexican place 2 mins from my apartment.
